Flex Work Eligible! This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 75 workdays annually to work remote! The initial amount of days is prorated for the first year based on start date.

General Description:

Primarily responsible for developing and equipping Assistant Operations Managers (AOMs) to become effective front-line trainers within their teams. This role will spend approximately 70% of its time facilitating “train-the-trainer” programs and technical training workshops. Additional time will be spent conducting needs assessments, auditing training effectiveness, refining materials, and supporting training administration. The ideal candidate brings strong instructional design and facilitation skills, practical technical experience, and a passion for enabling leaders to drive learning in the field.

Essential Job Functions:

Train-the-Trainer Development

  • Deliver structured “train-the-trainer” sessions to AOM preparing them to effectively instruct and coach their teams.
  • Provide hands-on support to AOMs during live field training, reinforcing instructional techniques, safety messaging, and operational best practices.
  • Coach AOMs on delivery methods, learner engagement strategies, and how to assess employee progress and performance.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for AOMs as they take on increasing training responsibilities.
  • Fill in as a trainer when needed to support field events, classroom sessions, or program delivery gaps.

Learning Assessment, Content Review, and Admin Support

  • Conduct learning needs assessments in partnership with site leadership, identifying capability gaps and prioritizing focus areas.
  • Review training delivery outcomes through field observations, quizzes, learner feedback, and job performance data.
  • Audit and continuously improve training content to ensure clarity, relevance, technical accuracy, and alignment with business goals.
  • Support various administrative training functions including scheduling, documentation, feedback analysis, and reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Associate degree in business, education, relevant technical field, or equivalent

Experience: 3 years of related training/compliance experience

Or 7 years combining adult learning, competency frameworks, and OSHA/FRA safety applications in lieu of education.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and railroad regulations
  • Experience as a trainer with functional understanding of rail machine operation and maintenance
  • Experience developing, instructing, and sustaining training programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication and influencing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including extended, day/night, holiday, and weekend shifts
Licenses/Certifications: Must obtain and maintain railroad safety training/certifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience delivering technical or operational training in industrial, manufacturing, or service settings
    • Strong coaching and facilitation skills in adult learning and leadership development
    • Comfortable working on-site with machines, equipment, or technical crews during practical sessions
    • Ability to manage multiple training plans and sites; strong organizational skills
    • Familiarity with instructional design, LMS, and training evaluation methods
    • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS:

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL:

  • 50% Field-Based (2 weeks/month): Site visits, coaching, observing training, and hands-on assessments
    • 50% Office-Based (2 weeks/month): Curriculum development, training analysis, SME collaboration, and planning

Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and/or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.

Starting pay for the position is between $66,600 – $96,600
