About the Opportunity
Our client, a growing real estate investment and property operations organization, is seeking a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations across a diverse portfolio of properties and development projects.
This is a highly visible role that offers the opportunity to partner closely with ownership and operations leadership while overseeing the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, cash management, and portfolio performance. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, accountability, and collaboration are essential. Experience within real estate, property management or construction is required.
What You’ll Do
- Own the day-to-day accounting and financial operations for a portfolio of properties and development activities
- Lead monthly close processes and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and general ledger activity
- Prepare financial reports, analyses, and distributions while providing insights to support strategic decision-making
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes to support operational and investment objectives
- Oversee accounts receivable activities, tenant billings, and billing adjustments to ensure timely collections and accurate reporting
- Establish and maintain disciplined invoicing processes to promote healthy cash flow and financial controls
- Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and accounts
- Partner with internal stakeholders to improve processes and support continued portfolio growth
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation to ensure operational efficiency and audit readiness
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Previous experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar financial leadership role
- 3 years of accounting experience within real estate, property management, or commercial real estate environments
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management
- Demonstrated experience with account reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end close processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a deadline-driven environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Self-starter mentality with a high level of ownership and accountability
