What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Accountant/Payroll | Full Time Year Round position at Loon Mountain Resort?
Overview
Payroll (60%): The General Accountant/Payroll is responsible for all payroll related duties including closing payroll, processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll and interim checks, emailing various payroll reports, payroll related duties such as: posting payroll to the General Ledger, uploading files for worker’s compensation payment, auditing payroll tax payments, payroll accruals, payroll change report, and inputting PTO forms. Handle the review of various payroll and benefit related accruals. Work closely with managers and the HR coordinators on individual payroll issues.
Accounting (40%): The General Accountant/Payroll position is also responsible for non-payroll accounting related duties to support and backup the other accounting department team members, including but not limited to Accounts Payable, cash handling and other tasks as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and present business materials.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic math skills along with calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to review reports and spreadsheets. Strong bookkeeping skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret procedural guidelines, write correspondence, and to speak effectively.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
- Work with the HR Coordinators on team member onboarding deadlines for payroll.
- Contact managers if time and attendance is not closed or any questions prior to payroll.
- Close payroll and process checks, direct deposits and print, sort, deliver to administration.
- Follow up on any payroll questions and make adjustments. Process interim checks.
- Process payroll reports such as PTO, 401k, worker’s comp.
- Prepare payroll entries to the General Ledger and reconcile all related accounts.
- Act as back-up for Accounts Payable.
- Strong communication and excel skills required.
- Assist with the daily sales report, posting and reporting, and cash out room duties, as required.
- Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Loon Mountain Resort guests at all times.
- Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
- Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
- Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
- Drive in accordance with the law and Loon Mountain Resort policies.
