HIRING: Preproduction Engineer (Aka: Pre-Construction Engineer/Electrical Procurement Engineer)
Location: Opelika, AL
Employment Type: Full-time/Permanent
Logistics: 100% On-site
Compensation: Up to $42/hr. (plus, time and a half - overtime)
Note: Must be authorized to work in the US on an unrestricted basis.
Collaborate with the Preproduction Manager, Project Managers, and Estimating team members to prioritize and translate construction information into the production process.
This position is responsible for designing and developing value-added technical pricing and design solutions from concept through completion of detailed drawings. The Senior Preproduction Engineer will also guide and mentor direct reports, ensuring their success and development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- Experience: 5 years of electrical or systems experience or Entry level CAD/Revit or Accubid experience and 5 or more years of Manufacturing and/or Construction experience preferred.
- Travel: 15-25% (Minimal, for training purposes etc.)
- Work Schedule: Typical work hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with project and preproduction estimates and proposals.
- Assists with coordinating design activities with consultants, subcontractor partners, and clients.
- Leads the front-end of projects, achieving goals and managing multiple priorities.
- Participates in conceptual design, collaborating with internal and external teams to facilitate project design, documentation, and compliance with project requirements.
- Reviews and maintains engineering and manufacturing drawings and models to ensure alignment with production and project requirements.
- Proactively resolves design issues and BIM conflicts.
- Identifies building methods and breaks down manufacturing drawings for production.
- Optimizes designs for manufacturability and installation efficiency.
- Supports the development and implementation of company processes and standards.
- Captures and applies lessons learned from previous projects or products on sequence, duration, logistics, and work package content
- Adjusts builds to streamline installation and creation.
- Standardizes print information.
- Verifies specifications and submittals for building methods.
- Demonstrates approachability, collaboration with others, and effective influence.
