Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO)
Maintaining a safe and secure environment is crucial for students, staff, and visitors across the school district.
Key Responsibilities
- Security & Safety:
- Patrol school grounds and buildings to ensure a safe environment.
- Monitor security cameras and respond to incidents as needed.
- Enforce school district policies and state laws related to school security.
- Assist in emergency preparedness planning and response.
- Supervision & Support:
- Assist with student supervision during lunch, recess, and other transition times.
- Support staff in managing student behavior and ensuring campus safety.
- Help with student drop-off and pick-up to maintain orderly traffic flow.
- Administrative Assistance:
- Assist office staff with parent check-in and student check-out procedures.
- Verify visitor credentials and ensure proper access control.
- Provide security presence during school events and extracurricular activities.
- Other Duties:
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the principal or district administration.
- Collaborate with school resource officers, local law enforcement, and emergency personnel when necessary.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Hold a valid Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) license through the Arkansas State Police.
- Complete required firearms training and maintain certification.
- Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, staff, and the public.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, and patrol campus for extended periods.
- May be required to respond quickly to emergencies or physically intervene when necessary.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during school supervision duties.
