Outreach and Shelter Trauma Support Counselor

Position Overview- Work Location: In person

• The Outreach and Shelter Trauma Support Counselor provides trauma informed, survivor centered counseling and crisis intervention services to individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Services are provided at no cost and focus on short term stabilization, emotional support, empowerment, and connection to community resources.
• This position coordinates counseling services within the shelter and outreach center while collaborating closely with advocates and program staff to promote safety, healing, and resilience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate on site counseling services at the shelter and outreach center, including scheduling and communication with staff and outside providers
• Develop and maintain trauma informed support groups sessions facilitated by staff, advocates, or community providers
• Facilitate multiple support groups weekly in both shelter and outreach settings
• Provide short term, trauma informed individual counseling to residential and outreach clients
• Conduct strengths based assessments of social and emotional needs and collaborate with clients to develop individualized support plans
• Provide crisis intervention to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking
• Deliver services in a non judgmental, culturally sensitive, and empowerment focused manner
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure coordinated, survivor centered care
• Assist with 24 hour helpline coverage as assigned
• Provide domestic violence and healthy relationship education to volunteers, new hires, schools, and community partners
• Partner with Lonoke County School Districts to present Teen Dating Violence and Healthy Relationship education
• Work with the Executive Director to support prevention education and awareness efforts through appropriate outreach and social media content
• Contribute positively to team dynamics and maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality

Qualifications

Required

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related behavioral health field
• Eligible for licensure in the State of Arkansas
• Demonstrated experience or training in trauma informed care
• Strong crisis intervention and problem solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Preferred

• Licensed Associate Counselor LAC
• Licensed Master Social Worker LMSW
• Actively working toward LPC or LCSW with supervision in place
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking
• Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred
• Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking Training or willingness to obtain upon hire

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
