What are the responsibilities and job description for the CARPENTRY CO-OP STUDENT position at Longwood Gardens?

Longwood Gardens has a 12-month Cooperative Education Program (Co-Op Program) opportunity for a motivated student specializing in Carpentry. This is a great opportunity for a student to complement their classroom learning during the academic year with hands on experience. This opportunity will offer a hands-on learning experiences by supporting our Carpentry team. This position focuses on maintaining and upgrading carpentry and finishes throughout our conservatories and buildings. Students enrolled in their senior year of high school are invited to apply. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in maintaining and upgrading Garden-wide carpentry elements and finishes
- Using hand tools and power tools
- Supporting with routine work orders, including repairs and troubleshooting
The schedule for the program: From June 2026 to August 2026, the schedule will be Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM-2:30 PM. From September 2025 to May 2027 the schedule would be 2 weeks per month, 8 hours a day, per your school’s Co-Op Program. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A current enrollment in a technical high school/program
- An interest in Carpentry trade or related technical fields
- An ability to work with tools and equipment with training provided
- A willingness and ability to perform hands-on tasks in a team setting
- A valid driver’s license (required)
