What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician position at Longwood Eye & LASIK Center?
Longwood Eye and LASIK Center has added a physician to the team, and therefore we are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician to join our growing group of technicians.
This role will require working at both our Gardner and Fitchburg locations.
We are a well-established multispecialty ophthalmic practice, offering care through our team of optometrists and ophthalmologists specializing in glaucoma, retina, oculoplastics, cataract, cornea, and comprehensive eyecare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain detailed patient medical and ocular histories
- Enter and manage information in electronic medical records (EMR)
- Conduct preliminary testing including visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurement, and refractions
- Administer eye drops and assist with patient preparation
- Perform and interpret a variety of diagnostic tests including: OCT, Humphrey VF, fundus photography, specular microscopy, biometry
- Assist in clinical procedures such as laser treatments, oculoplastic procedures, intravitreal injections
- Provide scribing support to physicians during patient encounters
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in optometry or ophthalmology is advantageous, though training will be provided for the right candidate.
- This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in a related healthcare field such as phlebotomy, medical assisting, CNA, or pharmacy technician, but experience in these fields is not required.
- A positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are essential
Position Details:
- The office operates Monday through Friday, approximately from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM. Full-time or part-time position is available, with preference given to candidates able to commit to full-day availability. Specific details can be discussed further during the interview.
- This role requires ability to work at both our Gardner and Fitchburg locations.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
