We are seeking a compassionate, confident, and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to join our skilled nursing leadership team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN who enjoys being hands-on with residents, supporting nursing staff, and taking ownership of clinical outcomes. The Unit Manager will oversee day-to-day clinical operations on their assigned unit and work closely with the DON, ADON, nurses, CNAs, physicians, residents, and families.

Position Summary

The RN Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing the clinical care and daily nursing operations of an assigned unit.

The Unit Manager provides leadership and support to RNs, LPNs/LVNs, and CNAs while ensuring residents receive safe, consistent, and compassionate care.

This position serves as an important link between floor staff and nursing leadership, helping identify clinical concerns, support staff, improve communication, and maintain high standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily clinical operations of the assigned nursing unit

  • Provide hands-on clinical leadership and support to nursing staff

  • Monitor resident care and ensure individualized care needs are met

  • Perform and oversee nursing assessments

  • Monitor changes in resident condition and ensure appropriate follow-up

  • Communicate significant clinical changes to physicians and responsible parties as appropriate

  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation

  • Review physician orders and follow up on outstanding clinical needs

  • Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings

  • Work closely with MDS, therapy, social services, dietary, and other departments

  • Monitor medication administration and treatment practices

  • Assist with infection prevention and control

  • Review incident reports and ensure appropriate follow-up

  • Monitor falls, wounds, infections, hospitalizations, and other clinical indicators

  • Support quality improvement and QAPI initiatives

  • Assist with regulatory compliance and survey readiness

  • Coach, mentor, and support RNs, LPNs/LVNs, and CNAs

  • Provide feedback and hold staff accountable for quality and performance

  • Assist with staff orientation and ongoing education

  • Help maintain appropriate staffing and assignments on the unit

  • Address resident and family concerns professionally and promptly

  • Promote teamwork and effective communication among staff

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and resident-centered clinical environment

  • Collaborate with the DON and ADON on departmental goals and initiatives

  • Step in clinically when needed to support the nursing team

What We're Looking For

  • Current and unrestricted RN license

  • Previous SNF, long-term care, post-acute, or similar healthcare experience preferred

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities

  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a nursing team

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong understanding of resident-centered care

  • Dependable, professional, and compassionate approach
