Job Title: Director of Nursing (DON)

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to lead and oversee all nursing operations within our skilled nursing facility in Fairmont, West Virginia. The DON will ensure the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff development while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for residents and team members.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction to the nursing team, including RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
Oversee daily clinical operations to ensure quality resident care and safety
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS guidelines
Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures
Manage staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning
Lead quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
Collaborate with physicians, administrators, and interdisciplinary teams
Oversee infection control, medication management, and clinical documentation
Mentor and develop nursing staff through training and performance evaluations
Participate in surveys, audits, and accreditation processes
Qualifications:
Current RN license in West Virginia (or ability to obtain)
Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards (CMS, state regulations)
Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher
Previous experience as a Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing
Certification in gerontological nursing or nursing administration (a plus)
