Library Media Specialist

The Library Media Specialist position is responsible for ensuring that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information technology.
Qualifications:
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university; or Bachelor's Degree preferred;
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents and advocate for children to problem-solve effectively;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders;
- Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth, both academic and social-emotional, to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student;
- Knowledge of DESE Digital Literacy and Computer Science Standards;
- Knowledge of library management systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
The Library Tech - Paraprofessional will;
- Assist students with accessing web-based reading and math interventions;
- Catalog materials to facilitate the effective retrieval of information;
- Assist staff with accessing student progress data on web-based interventions;
- Monitors student behavior as outlined in the Acceptable Use Policies (AUP);
- Provide guidance, communicate high expectations, and show an active interest in student progress;
- Facilitate critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity

As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and the Fitchburg Education Association (FEA).
