Job Overview

Position Title: Intake Representative

Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Position Summary: The Intake Representative will be responsible for handling inquiries from prospective clients and referral sources over the phone for the Birmingham Recovery Center.

The primary goals of the Intake Representative role are to:

  • Facilitate initial consultation and screening for clients seeking services offered by Birmingham Recovery Center.
  • Accurately document screening, demographic information, insurance, and correspondence from clients, their families and referral sources.
  • Obtain level of care recommendations from clinical director and/or medical director, relay information, answer any questions and schedule admission with client.
  • Consistently implement Company culture, philosophy, and brand strategy at program level.

Essential Duties & Functions

  • Responds quickly to all calls of prospective clients seeking services.
  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct screening interviews and motivate clients for treatment services.
  • Effectively describe the services offered by Birmingham Recovery Center to prospective clients and referral sources.
  • Provide referral information to callers seeking services not offered by Birmingham Recovery Center, in outlying areas, in emergency situations or as needed.
  • Collaborates with financial services to develop financial agreements and present to clients via phone.
  • Explains insurance benefits and out of pocket expectations to clients and families.
  • Meets with prospective clients and/or family members to answer questions about programming, expectations, and financial obligations.

Education/ Experience

  • Highschool diploma/GED. Preferred bachelor’s degree in related human services field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in SUD facility preferred.

  • Ability to provide competent and compassionate treatment services with a customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional/ethical conduct.
  • Ability to self-motivate, is solution oriented and able to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
  • An understanding and commitment to the protection of client rights and confidentiality.
  • Ability to seek guidance and ask for help with needed.
  • General knowledge of the requirements of managed care.
  • General knowledge of ASAM levels of care.
  • Knowledgeable about federal and state rules and regulations for the treatment of individuals with substance use disorder(s).

Abilities:

Language Ability: Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies, or members of the business community. Write speeches and articles for publication.

Mathematical Ability: Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Requirements:

  • CPR/first aid certified
  • Criminal background check.
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Verification of previous employment via professional references.
  • Valid driver’s license; Independent, reliable transportation

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
