The purpose of this position is to provide support to the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Capital Projects for Causal Analyst with the Savannah River Site (SRS). This support is in the form of administrative and technical expertise in the areas of cause evaluation, root cause, apparent cause, corrective action management, and lessons learned. Safety is a primary responsibility for all employees working on and off SRS.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This support is in the form of administrative and technical expertise in the areas of cause evaluation, root cause, apparent cause, corrective action management, and lessons learned. The main duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform causal analysis: direct cause, apparent cause, and root cause analysis
- Generate causal reports
- Operate corrective action management systems: developing corrective actions, entering, and managing data into corrective system, provide status to corrective action systems
- Conduct interviews following an event for fact gathering
- Process corrective actions, assessments, observations, software interface support, profile, and role updates
- Conduct weekly or monthly meetings
- Oversight of construction incident occurrence investigations as well as annual assessment planning
- Generate metrics from corrective action management systems
- Create lessons learned documents
- Provide customer support for the use of the corrective action system
- Plan, schedule, and support self-assessment
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in science, engineering or task relevant discipline.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 4 years of experience performing causal analysis: Direct cause, apparent cause, root cause.
- Active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties, but the candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Q security clearance.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Experience with corrective action management systems: developing corrective actions, entering, and managing data into corrective system, providing status corrective action systems.
- Ability to professional conduct interviews following an event for fact gathering.
- General computer skills required to navigate web-based software type applications and report writing.
- Strong technical writing skills required.
- Experience with customer support associated with processing of corrective actions, assessments, observations, software interface support, profile and role updates.
- Experience conducting meetings.
- Foster a work environment that promotes safety, quality, trust, communication, and teamwork.
- Understanding of and ability to communicate technical information.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Certifications for apparent cause and root cause are preferred.
- General construction practice knowledge preferred.
- Nuclear, commercial, or DOE facility experience preferred.
- Experience with oversight of construction incident occurrence investigations, as well as annual assessment planning is preferred.
LOCATION
Savannah River Site
Aiken, SC
Position will be primarily performed at SRS and various off-site locations as needed.
The Savannah River Site (SRS), a 310 square mile (198,046 acres) Department of Energy site, is located in the sand-hills region of South Carolina. It encompasses parts of Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties and is bordered on the west by the Savannah River and Georgia. SRS is close to several cities, including Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina. It is also within a few hours of Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Greenville and Charlotte.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Successful candidates will be able to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation. The work schedule will be a nominal 40-hour work week but can be part-time or with interruption between on-site requirements dependent on the support requirements necessary for the project. It is estimated that each standard year will consist of two-thousand and eighty hours. Ability to work a schedule that includes weekend days.
