Farmers Market Assistant

Long Meadow Ranch has an exciting opportunity to join our culinary farm team as a Farmers' Market and Poultry Assistant.

Long Meadow Ranch is a family-owned and operated producer and purveyor of world-class wine and food that is economically successful and socially responsible, using diversified, sustainable, and organic farming methods. We produce award-winning wines, handcrafted extra virgin olive oils, grass-fed beef, eggs, and heirloom fruits and vegetables.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and loading of produce, meat, eggs and other products for transportation to farmers' markets
• Assist with set-up and take-down of farmers' markets
• Provide superior customer service and perform sales using cash, card, and an iPad
• Educate consumers and develop strong customer relationships
• Maintain an effective, clean and attractive storefront display that is visited by the public
• Harvest, wash, sort and pack produce, and perform other basic farm duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Requirements

• Passion for organic farm production, farmers' markets and local food
• Interest in fruits, vegetables, flowers, food and cooking
• Must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays from 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM
• Strong verbal communication skills. English is required, spanish is a benefit
• Must be a team player and get along well with other team members and market vendors
• Strong work ethic, organizational skills and integrity
• A pre-employment background check is required
• Ability to work in various settings including outside and in inclement weather
• Ability to work on different ground surfaces and in rough and uneven terrain
• Ability to use both hands to handle, grasp, move and control objects
• Ability to repeat the same movements throughout the shift
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and twist body
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Compensation and Benefits

• This is a part-time, hourly position (24 hours per week)
• The Company reasonably expects to pay in the range of $17 to $20 for this position. Of course, this is depending on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, and business or organizational needs. This wage range may be modified in the future
