What You’ll Do At LIPA


The Corporate Affairs Department supports LIPA’s ability to build trust, credibility, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. The department is responsible for delivering clear, consistent communications, strengthening relationships, supporting transparency, and ensuring that LIPA’s messaging reflects its mission to provide electric service that is reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean. Corporate Affairs also supports organizational performance measurement, reporting and accountability, by tracking progress against LIPA’s strategic priorities and ensuring that performance information is communicated clearly, accurately, and in a comprehensive and coherent way across the organization and to the communities that LIPA serves.


The Lead, Internal Communications serves a critical role within the Corporate Affairs team and is

responsible for strengthening LIPA’s internal communications and helping foster an informed, engaged, and positive organizational culture. This internal-facing role leads the development and execution of communications strategies, messaging, and content that keep employees connected to LIPA’s mission, priorities, leadership, and major initiatives.


Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Affairs, the Lead, Internal Communications will serve as the primary owner of LIPA’s employee communications platform, including the development and ongoing management of LIPA’s intranet. The role is responsible for creating, editing, and publishing content across internal channels, developing and managing an internal communications calendar, and coordinating with departments across the organization to ensure employees receive timely, accurate, and consistent information.


The Lead, Internal Communications will:


  • Lead the development and execution of LIPA’s internal communications strategy to support employee awareness, engagement, and organizational alignment.
  • Serve as the primary content lead for LIPA’s intranet, including planning, writing, editing, publishing, and maintaining employee-facing content.
  • Partner with departments across LIPA to identify key updates, initiatives, deadlines, events, and employee information for internal distribution.
  • Develop and manage an internal communications content calendar that supports consistent, timely, and coordinated messaging to employees.
  • Draft and edit employee communications, including intranet stories, leadership messages, newsletters, announcements, staff updates, FAQs, presentations, and other internal materials.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership and department heads to translate organizational priorities into clear, accessible employee communications.
  • Support internal messaging around organizational change, employee engagement, culture, values, policies, programs, and major business initiatives.
  • Assist with ensuring internal communications reflect LIPA’s brand, voice, values, and commitment to transparency, collaboration, service, and excellence.
  • Identify opportunities to improve employee communications channels, processes, and engagement.
  • Support the Corporate Affairs team on communications projects as needed, particularly where internal and external messaging should be aligned.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary


What We Need


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in internal communications, corporate communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Experience managing employee communications channels, intranet content, newsletters, or internal campaigns.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to tone, accuracy, grammar, and clarity.
  • Strong judgment and ability to translate complex information into clear employee-facing communications.
  • Experience developing communications plans, content calendars, and internal messaging strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience using intranet, content management, email marketing, collaboration, and project management tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Understanding of brand standards, employee engagement, and organizational culture.
  • Professional discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive or confidential information.


Salary Range


$97,200 - $118,800
