About the Role:
Join our dynamic team at LONG ISLAND MEDICAL & COSMETIC DERMATOLOGY, PC as a Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant! In this vital role, you'll be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment while efficiently managing administrative tasks. Cross trained candidate will also be required to perform clinical duties assisting provider in rooms.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients with a friendly demeanor and assist with check-in and check-out processes.
- Manage phone calls, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process insurance verifications and collect payments at the time of service.
- Must be able to interpret insurance deductibles and coinsurances to proactively collect patient cost share.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and communication.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Provide information about our services and educate patients on procedures and policies.
- Support the team with any projects and initiatives as needed by management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Proven experience as a medical receptionist or in a similar role within a healthcare setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Customer service-oriented with a compassionate and friendly demeanor.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is preferred.
