Position Summary:
NY LGBT Network seeks qualified candidates for a Part-Time Outreach Specialist to expand access to gender affirming care and strengthen family support services. This new position will support the design and launch of an expanded program area through outreach to LGBTQ youth, young adults, their caregivers, and medical providers- especially transgender, gender non-conforming, and nonbinary (TGNCNB) individuals. The outreach schedule is 10-20 hours per week, including weekday and weekend evenings. This is a 6-month part-time position. Toward the end of the 6-month period, the commitment will be re-evaluated and can be considered for an extension and/or increase in hours.
The Outreach Specialist works out of the NY LGBT Network’s Queens Center (Q-Center) at 35-11 35th Ave, Astoria, NY 11106 and reports to the Senior Program Manager for the Education, Groups, and Events Unit.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct targeted outreach to LGBTQ young people in general and TGNCNB people in particular through street outreach and community outreach at schools, community events, and other places where young LGBTQ people gather and socialize- including bars, clubs and private parties.
· Conduct targeted outreach to parents, caregivers, and providers that serve LGBTQ young people in general and TGNCNB people in particular through community gatherings, networking events, and scheduled meetings to engage and educate them about our services and gender affirming care in general.
· Conduct digital outreach through social media, local-based applications, and other online forums.
· Identify new outreach opportunities to engage TGNCB individuals in and around Queens
· Distribute condoms to agencies, storefronts, and individuals.
