Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service with professional phone etiquette and clear communication.
- Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify patient insurance details, process medical billing and collections, and handle health insurance inquiries with thorough knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR), ensuring proper documentation review, data entry, and secure handling of sensitive medical records in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Assist with medical coding tasks including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and care plan documentation.
- Maintain office organization by managing phone communication, appointment reminders, and clerical support such as typing reports and updating medical records.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans, reviewing documentation, and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office or healthcare environment with strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Familiarity with medical billing, collection processes, health insurance procedures, and Medicare guidelines.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and documentation review practices.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and 10-key typing for accurate data entry.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a busy clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Prior clinic experience or healthcare administrative support is preferred; familiarity with health information management is a plus.
- Ability to uphold clinical confidentiality policies while providing outstanding patient service through professional phone communication and front desk management.
- Demonstrated office experience with clerical tasks such as scheduling, filing, and managing electronic health records confidently.
