Company Description The Long Island Alzheimer’s & Dementia Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and their caregivers. Based in Westbury, NY, the Center focuses on making a positive impact one person, one family, and one community at a time. It offers a full range of caregiver services alongside safe, structured, and engaging programs for diagnosed individuals. Services include stage-specific day programs Monday through Saturday, support groups, educational trainings, in-home respite, door-to-door transportation, and additional support offerings. For over 30 years, the Center has provided hope, resources, and guidance for families until a cure is found.
Role Description The Director of Caregiver Services is a full-time, on-site role based in Westbury, NY, responsible for overseeing all caregiver support programs and initiatives. This role manages the planning, delivery, and evaluation of caregiver services, including support groups, education sessions, respite programs, and outreach activities. The Director supervises and supports caregiver services staff, coordinates schedules, ensures high-quality program content, and maintains compliance with organizational policies and relevant standards. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with clinical and program teams, developing and updating caregiver resources, tracking program outcomes, managing budgets, and reporting to senior leadership. The Director also represents the Center in community partnerships, builds relationships with referral sources, and participates in fundraising and awareness events to strengthen caregiver support across Long Island.
Qualifications
  • Program leadership and management skills, including experience overseeing caregiver or human services programs and supervising multidisciplinary staff.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage caregivers, community partners, and internal teams effectively.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, and caregiver needs, preferably through direct experience in aging, social work, counseling, or healthcare settings.
  • Organizational and administrative skills, including budgeting, data tracking, reporting, and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience developing and facilitating support groups, educational workshops, and training programs for caregivers or similar populations.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments, build community partnerships, and participate in outreach and advocacy efforts.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, data management tools, and basic technology used for program coordination and communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, human services, nursing, or a related field; master’s degree or relevant licensure is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to person-centered, culturally sensitive, and non-discriminatory care for individuals and families affected by dementia.
