What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Specialist position at Long Haul Trucking?
We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable professional to join our team as a Safety Specialist.
This position plays an important role in supporting our drivers and helping ensure our fleet remains compliant with DOT regulations and Company safety standards. You’ll work closely with drivers and our Safety, Operations, HR, and Maintenance teams in a fast-paced transportation environment.
What You’ll Do
- Review driver logs and Hours of Service (HOS) records
- Monitor and follow up on log violations and compliance issues
- Assist drivers with ELD operation, logging procedures, and HOS questions
- Maintain driver compliance records and documentation
- Set up and maintain drivers and equipment within ELD systems
- Assist with new-driver HOS and ELD training
- Prepare routine compliance and driver reports
- Help troubleshoot ELD and transportation software issues
- Support drug and alcohol testing documentation and other regulatory requirements
- Assist with DOT audits and other safety and compliance projects

Qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn new software and technology
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Transportation, trucking, ELD, or log-auditing experience is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA Hours of Service regulations is a plus
