Job Summary
The Server Trainer serves as a mentor and leader within the Front of House (FOH) team in addition to their server duties. They are responsible for training, coaching, and motivating servers to provide exceptional guest service while adhering to company standards. The Server Trainer leads by example, ensuring new hires and existing staff understand operational procedures, maintain menu knowledge, and consistently deliver high-quality dining experiences.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Training and Development
- Execute structured training for new servers using company-provided tools, including Waitrainer and progress cards.
- Oversee and conduct the full training cycle:
- Server: 7 shifts of training.
- Food Runner: 4 shifts of training.
- Greeter: 3 shifts of training.
- Grade menu tests, review training workbook pages, and provide actionable feedback on trainee performance.
- Regularly assess and communicate trainee progress via the company portal.
- Guest Service Excellence
- Ensure all servers are equipped to deliver excellent guest service by coaching on menu knowledge, guest interaction, and problem resolution.
- Leadership and Support
- Lead by example, following all company policies, dress codes, and service standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for training-related questions and challenges during shifts.
- Motivate team members with a positive, energetic attitude and provide recognition for great performance.
- Operational Responsibilities
- Ensure checklists and side work routines are completed accurately, holding the team accountable for daily tasks.
- Provide feedback and updates on training materials and suggest improvements to policies or procedures.
- Complete training audits and contribute feedback for 30-60-90-day evaluations of new hires.
- Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of trainee progress, including shift notes, scores, and recommendations for continued development.
- Communicate with management to identify opportunities for improvement in the training programs
- Expectations
- Flexible work schedule, with a minimum of 23 hours per week, including weekends.
- Deliver feedback constructively and professionally, fostering a supportive learning environment.
- Complete all new training materials promptly and be prepared to assist teammates with implementation.
- Attend monthly meetings with management to discuss and improve training practices.
Compensation and Perks
- Back-Up Trainer
- $0.50/hour raise upon completion of the certification class.

- All Compensation and Perks for a Back-Up Trainer; listed above.
- $0.50/hour raise as a Lead Certified Trainer.
- Quarterly performance bonuses. Determined by sales increases, profit, and guest satisfaction scores.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of Certified Trainer class.
- Strong knowledge of the restaurant menu, including ingredients, pairings, and allergy considerations.
- Ability to train and troubleshoot on Toast POS systems.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate others.
- Flexible availability, including AM/PM shifts and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and the movement of moderate loads require a 30-pound lifting requirement.
- Ability to hold and move safely with trays filled with food and beverages.
- Utilization of office equipment. The effective operation of equipment requires the use of all limbs, fingers, and the ability to see.
- Spends approximately 90 - 100 % of his/her time standing and walking swiftly, therefore, he/she must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and move freely using all limbs and seeing at close/long distances.
- Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, etc. as well as visit LDE locations, off-site locations, etc.; therefore, he/she must be able to travel autonomously to other geographical locations.
