The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences (LBIF), located in Loveladies on Long Beach Island in New Jersey, is seeking the immediate hire of a qualified and passionate candidate for the position of its summer Children's Camp and Youth Programs in the Arts & Sciences. This is an Admin position with the main focus to prepare for its 9 week Summer Camp Day Camp scheduled for June 26 through August 25 and manage clerical administrative requirements. We seek to hire immediately.

The position is administrative - overseeing the day to day of it day camp and youth programs during the summer season. The Coordinator will manage a team of approximately 25 staff members. A degree in education or a related field of study is preferred.

The LBIF Day Camp has a 40 year history of providing excellence in programming and creativity in the arts, crafts, science and recreational sports.

This is a part time year-round position. In the summer it is up to 40 hours per week from June through August. During the time Camp is not in session, Fall and Spring the Coordinator develops and manages LBIF's education offerings for children, and hours are up to 21 per week. During the year in the fall, winter and spring, the weekly work hours required on site are highly flexible.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

DUTIES

The Summer Day camp operates Monday through Friday, 9am until 4pm. Camp begins June 26 and ending August 25, 2023. Some weekend and evening hours may be needed, particularly for special events. There are no weeks off during the summer months.

  • This position involves administrative duties & supervisory responsibility for all youth staff, campers and program.
  • This position reports to the Executive Director.
  • Oversees staff including instructors, visiting teachers, artists and aids for various programs
  • Oversee and carry out the operations of each camp group’s programming schedule and activities and ensuring a healthy, positive camping environment
  • Works closely with Facilities Supervisor to prepare for classes and programs
  • Handles parental concerns and registration policy, and any emergencies, illness, injury and behavioral issues
  • Coordinates weekly staff meetings for summer camp staff and submits time sheets accordingly

FINANCIAL AND RECORD KEEPING

  • Record daily camp attendance
  • Maintain records for payment

SKILLS

  • Ability to take on a leadership role, and dedicated to excellence
  • Strong positive attitude and role flexibility
  • Strong interest education: with children, youth and in camp programming
  • Experience in management and supervision of others building a strong team
  • High level of social skills interacting with parents, teachers and campers
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers
  • Ability to address problems quickly and effectively
  • Highly organized and attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills including spread sheets, word processing and email
  • Education: a bachelor's degree or graduate degree required. Experience is preferred and experience of working at a camp in a supervisory capacity is a plus. Certification in CPR, completed emergency First Aid training and experience will be required.

Salary: From $20.00 per hour
