ABOUT THE POSITIONThe teaching assignment may be at the Liberal Arts campus, the Trade Tech and Community Learning campus or other college teaching locations. The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online or off campus and is subject to change as needed. Part-time faculty positions are as needed positions and do not accrue rights to tenure. Part-time faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. Duties

• Ability to create a dynamic learning environment that values instructor/student interaction.

• Ability to effectively engage with and facilitate authentic learning for students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.

• Ability to adapt teaching pedagogy to the knowledge of each individual and class.

• Ability to self-reflect and respond to an evidence-based assessment of student learning.

• Demonstrated experience and commitment to integrating new technologies into the learning process, including but not limited to interactive technologies for on campus and on-line courses.

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

 

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

• Any Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the discipline; OR,

• Any Associate degree and six years of experience in the discipline; OR,

• the equivalent AND, 

 

Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

 

Local Equivalency Statement 

• Minimum of 18 units of completed lower division General Education credits in 3 out

of 4 General Education requirement areas (Language and Rationality; Natural

Science; Humanities; and Social Sciences) AND

• Culinary Arts/Food Services related certification such as:

a. Certification as a working Chef by any Culinary Federation AND

b. Membership in at least one Culinary Trade Organization AND

• Minimum of eight (8) years full-time food services occupational experience in the

Food Services Industry (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets and/or gourmet

foods) OR

 

Minimum of twelve (12) units of completed Culinary Arts classes AND six (6) years

of food service occupational experience (such as pastry, cold kitchen, banquets

and/or gourmet foods).DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Evidence of recent community college teaching in Culinary Arts

2. Minimum seven (7) years full-time, hands-on experience in commercial/industrial kitchens (Restaurants)
