What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Wound Care Nurse Practitioner/ Physician Assistant position at Lonestar Wound Care and Hyperbarics?
Lonestar Wound Care and Hyperbarics in Irving, Texas is looking to hire a part-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in conjunction with the Medical Director of the facility. This position is an office based wound care position. You will see 40-50 office based wound care visits weekly in a defined territory in the DFW metroplex.
Lonestar is a freestanding Wound Care and Hyperbaric facility with a strong focus on innovative treatments to help all of our patients not only heal, but to learn how to best move forward with their lives after treatment.
The ideal applicant must have experience in Wound Care.
The NP/PA will be responsible for the duties below. This is not an inclusive list and is designed to give you a brief overview of expectations of the position.
Job purpose
- Examine, diagnose and treat patients requiring wound care
- Examine, diagnose, treat and monitor patients who require Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
- Manage patient compliance through education and communication with referring physicians
Duties and responsibilities
The PA/NP serves as the Patient Care Provider. As such, he/she is expected to perform the following:
- Arrive to work on time
- Ensure safety of all patients
- Ensure safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chambers
- Evaluate and assess all patients, new and existing, prior to patient undergoing hyperbaric treatment
- Provide wound care to patients
- Effectively and accurately maintain all patient records and documentation; Assess and record patient’s progress
- Effectively communicate with referring physicians on updates regarding their patients
- Effectively communicate with patients regarding their treatment and provide education to further assist patient with their healing
- Effectively conduct peer to peer reviews as needed
- Ensure knowledge of proper billing codes
- Understand and follow work rules and procedures
- Maintains a professional and tidy appearance at all times
- Maintain a professional and polite demeanor with all patients
- Comply with all patient privacy and HIPAA rules
- Comply with rules and regulations of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society
- Work with the Medical Director to ensure all medical issues are attended to
- Actively participate in developing and maintaining relationships with physicians who are able to refer patients for necessary HBOT
Qualifications
- Must be able to work flexible hours, multitask and be a team player
- Must have a positive attitude
- 2 years of experience or more as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is preferred
- Must have an excellent bedside manner
- Must have strong leadership skills
- Must have a valid Physician Assistant / NP license in the state
- Must have up to date ACLS
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Wound care experience preferred'
