Job Overview
We are looking for experienced underground utility crews to operate existing equipment. We currently have four drills (Vermeer and Ditch Witch) ready for deployment.
This role is for crew leads or operators who come with helpers and can run field operations independently.

Requirements:
- Proven experience running HDD or underground utility work
- Ability to operate with minimal supervision
- Comfortable being paid by production (footage)
- One point of contact per crew
- Must be reliable and organized
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise drill crews during HDD projects, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project specifications
- Operate and oversee the use of heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and Caterpillar machinery
- Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to plan daily activities and equipment needs
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of drilling rigs and related machinery on construction sites
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and project progress
- Support team training on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best practices in construction environments
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on heavy machinery
- Proven experience operating excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, horizontal drilling rigs, tankers, paving equipment, and other construction machinery
- Strong background in construction site operations with a focus on underground utility installation or similar projects
- Valid commercial driver's license with experience in operating heavy vehicles such as dump trucks or tanker trucks
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and construction site protocols
- Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining high safety standards
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment brands and horizontal directional drilling techniques
