What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horseback Riding Trail Guide / Wrangler position at Lone Star Ranch?

Howdy! We are looking for experienced horseback riders who are good with both horses and people to join our team. We offer trail rides, lessons, and kids camps for both locals and tourists.

Duties will include:

  • Taking guests out on trail rides
  • Prepping horses for trail ride
  • Acting as a horse safety expert
  • Helping to care for our animals
  • Keeping the stables looking nice
  • Knowledge of horseback care
  • Knowledge of horseback equipment (including tack)

Experience Required:

  • At least 5 years of riding experience
  • Knowledge about the tack and saddling of horses
  • Ability to talk to all kinds of people and ensure they enjoy their riding experience

**Please do not show up to our ranch unannounced.

**We do not offer onsite housing or relocation reimbursement. We are looking for people who already live in Austin and surrounding areas or who are already planning on moving here.

ALL POSITIONS IN COMPANY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Frequent work is performed outside, so position will frequently be subject to possible adverse weather conditions and variations in temperature
  • May occasionally be subject to different odors throughout the day to include, but is not limited to, horse manure.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid ID
  • Must be able to work varied shift hours

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB:

  • Position involves frequent standing and walking
  • Must be able to lift and carry buckets weighing up to 40lbs for a distance of 200 feet
  • Must be able to lift saddles/tack weighing up to 40lbs onto a horse’s back which may be 5 ½ feet high.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour

  • Holidays
  • Monday to Friday
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability

  • Austin, TX 78744: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
