Description
The HR Generalist will work closely with the HR Manager and team communicate out information and workflow.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review applications/resumes, evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicant qualifications
- Responsible for the onboarding of new hires from start to finish
- Maintain employee files in accordance to Federal Labor and DOT regulations
- Enter new hires; termination information into the computer for all employees;
- Advise managers, supervisors and employees on human resource policies;
- Assist departments with personnel related inquiries, advise and assist on current departmental HR procedures related to employee records, coordinate activities and acts as liaison between departments and general staff
- Perform a variety of responsible office support work such as composing confidential correspondence and resolutions; preparation of spreadsheets and data entry;
- Maintaining accurate records and files.
- Responsible for all DOT compliance and maintaining various systems/programs
- Manage workman's comp claims
- Manage GL accident reports
- FMLA
Position Requirements
- Highly-organized with a detail-oriented mindset
- Industry (construction/trucking) experience preferred
- Effective communication is key
- Must be positive, friendly and professional
- Ability to stay calm and be flexible in any situation
- Willingness to roll up his/her sleeves and take on additional tasks and responsibilities as they arise
- Exhibit excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize various tasks
- Spanish speaker perfereed
Formal Education & Certification
- Able to summarize actions and communicate information to managers and team
- Able to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines
- Able to perform duties independently
- Able to follow through and complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner
Work Conditions
- May require availability for overtime hours
