Oversee and supervise laborer team members while actively participating in the daily operations of the Track Maintenance Department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Inspect facilities on a regular basis to identify maintenance needs, equipment issues, and repair requirements.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing maintenance and renovation projects.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and all applicable health and safety regulations.
- Assist the Track Superintendent and Office Manager with the implementation and enforcement of departmental policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Assist in managing the daily operations of the Track Maintenance department to ensure efficient and effective performance.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing concerns; and resolving operational and personnel issues.
- Serve as a positive role model by leading through example, promoting teamwork and collaboration, maintaining professionalism under pressure, resolving conflicts with tact and diplomacy, exercising sound judgment during emergency or crisis situations, avoiding physical confrontation, seeking management assistance when appropriate, and ensuring team members are properly trained, retrained, and consistently follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Education:
- Degree from four-year college/university; or 5 year related experience and/or training; or combination
- Relevant Experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to perform irrigation system repairs and read, interpret, and apply blueprints, schematics, and irrigation plans.
- Working knowledge of turf irrigation systems, including water management practices to maintain optimal turf growth and soil moisture levels.
- Knowledge of track maintenance operations, equipment, and best practices.
- Strong leadership, management, and supervisory skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and apply effective management practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze detailed information, identify key findings, and prepare accurate, comprehensive written reports.

Training:
- Five years related experience and/or training; or combination
- Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory or leadership experience, preferably in track maintenance, grounds maintenance, irrigation, or a related field.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job function
- Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC) require
- Class C driver license
