Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, suspension components, and air brake systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire services, shocks & struts replacement, and alignment checks to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, HVAC units, and complex heavy equipment controls with precision.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools to meet specific repair needs or customizations.
- Operate heavy machinery such as motorcoaches, wreckers, and service trucks safely and efficiently during repair or testing procedures.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
Skills
- Proven experience working as a mechanic with strong automotive diagnostics skills.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes (including air brake systems), suspension systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and interpret technical manuals for complex machinery repairs.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and the use of power tools for custom modifications or repairs.
- Experience operating heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to communicate clearly with team members and clients.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting, working at heights or confined spaces; adept at using hand tools and power tools efficiently.
