Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to ensure optimal oral health.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions to tailor personalized treatment plans.
- Assist dentists during procedures with chairside support, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to foster lifelong healthy habits.
- Maintain accurate dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like through Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow strict infection control protocols and aseptic techniques to safeguard patient safety and uphold high standards of sterilization.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical coding, and documentation review processes enhances efficiency in patient care.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry is advantageous for working with young patients in pediatrics-focused practices.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable for seamless record management.
- Strong understanding of infection control procedures, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques ensures safe practice environments.
- Prior experience with general dentistry procedures, medical imaging, vital signs monitoring, and medical records management is beneficial.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields is a plus; ongoing education in pediatric dentistry or infection control is encouraged.
