Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and ready for use in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
  • Assist dentist during various procedures such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and providing patient comfort.
  • Take high-quality dental x-rays and using advanced imaging technology while adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Manage patient flow by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation within patient management software, and verifying patient information for accuracy.
  • Monitor vital signs and medical history to ensure patient safety throughout treatment sessions while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
  • Process dental instruments efficiently using proper sterilization techniques and ensure all dental equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
  • Support the front desk team as a dental receptionist when needed by managing patient inquiries, updating medical coding records, and coordinating with healthcare providers.

Skills

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
  • Experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging technology, and the operation of dental equipment.
  • Expertise in infection prevention management practices such as aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures to uphold healthcare infection control standards.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to maximize efficiency during procedures.
  • Excellent patient management skills with a focus on delivering compassionate care while ensuring clinical confidentiality policies are followed at all times.
  • Familiarity with medical documentation standards including medical coding for billing purposes.
