About the Role
The Director-Healthcare Construction provides oversight and management for the department of Planning, Design and Construction (PDC), which includes all healthcare construction projects and associated staff in the Loma Linda University Shared Services entity. Reports to and works with the Vice President for Campus Development to lead the PD&C department in executing strategic plans related to PD&C, by establishing priorities and determining resource allocation for efficient and effective delivery of all relevant projects. Develops processes that allow efficient processing of projects. Coordinates staffing assignments for healthcare specific projects in accordance with established priorities. Reviews and approves purchases of goods and services as authorized by policy. Adheres to schedules, budgets, and ensures customer satisfaction at all times. Performs other duties as needed.
Responsibilities

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology or related field required.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Minimum five years in healthcare planning, design, construction management, and Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) experience required.
- Minimum two years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports required.
Required Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections.
- Knowledge of building, licensing, and other pertinent codes.
- Knowledge of technical construction.
- Familiarity with clinical operations and functions.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the capital budgeting process required.
- Able to interpret regulatory codes and standards, technical plans and operating instructions, and schematic drawings.
- Able to utilize software programs such as AutoCAD.
- Able to read, write and speak with professional quality.
- Able to operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position.
- Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
- Able to provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies.
- Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
- Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
- Able to think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions.
- Able to manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure.
- Able to problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy.
- Able to pay close attention to detail.
- Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation.
- Able to see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
Preferred Skills
- Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
- California Contractor's License preferred.
