Job Description
Job Summary: The Coordinator-Medical Staff Services maintains the initial application and reappointment process for the credentialing and privileging of the Medical Staff and the Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). Ensures strict confidentiality. Accurately maintains the credentialing and privileging database information. Maintains current knowledge of the State, Federal and regulatory agencies (e.g. JCI, Title 22, NCQA) appointment and reappointment standards and guidelines. Manages expired items and performs routine database queries. Assists with the preparation of various reports (e.g. credentialing, privileging, malpractice risk review, proctoring, status and privilege changes and committee reports). Processes Board meeting follow-up. Performs health plan related activities. Provides requested documents to appropriate facility departments and services (e.g., Administration, Health Information Management and Risk Management). These services may be provided for both LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree preferred. Minimum three years of Medical Staff office credentialing experience in an acute care facility required.
Knowledge and Skills: Experience with Medical Staff office operations and physician credentialing processes. Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification preferred.
