MS Marital and Family Therapy & MS Counseling Programs
Department of Counseling and Family Sciences
Job Summary: The Assistant Professor's responsibility encompasses education, scholarship, and service. Demonstrates loyalty to the mission, policies, standards, and regulations of the respective department, school, and the University, and follows the administrative policies set up by the University and the individual school. Works on statistics and research design issues accross the three departments of the School of Behavior Health. Performs other duties as needed. The Director of Clinical Training (DCT) is a faculty role responsible for coordinating and overseeing clinical training experiences for graduate students in the MS Marital and Family Therapy and MS Counseling programs. The DCT works collaboratively with program leadership, faculty, and community partners to support high‑quality clinical education and student professional development.
Education and Experience: An earned doctoral degree in one of the recognized behavioral health professions, Marital and Family Therapy or Counseling preferred. Experience teaching multiple levels of statistics, conducting data analysis, and use of statistical software are required. Teaching experience can be met by courses taught while earning the doctoral degree or by post doctorate teaching assignments. Other teaching assistantship experiences will be considered if there is evidence that the assignment included primary responsibility over classroom instruction. Clinical leadership or clinical supervision experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of current technology and educational media used in both classroom and online teaching and presentations. Able to effectively communicate changes and instructions in a professional, effective and positive manner. Able to write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position as well as Canvas and Banner. Able to communicate effectively on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person, on the telephone, in online synchronous and asynchronous teaching, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Professional certification, licensure or registration as appropriate. Current clinical licensure as an LMFT or LPCC . Eligibility for or designation as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate.
