Key Responsibilities:
- Warmly greeting and engaging with patients, establishing rapport and understanding their visual needs, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences.
- Interpreting ophthalmic prescriptions (Rx) accurately and explaining technical aspects in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Assisting patients in selecting appropriate frames that complement their face shape, lifestyle, and prescription requirements, while considering fashion trends and personal style.
- Educating patients on various lens materials
- Preparing and submitting accurate eyewear orders to ophthalmic laboratories, ensuring all specifications align with the patient's prescription and chosen products.
- Verifying finished eyewear upon arrival from the lab against original prescriptions and order specifications to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Performing expert fitting and adjustments of new eyewear to ensure optimal comfort, vision, and proper alignment for the patient.
- Performing minor repairs on eyewear, such as replacing screws, nose pads, or realigning frames.
- Troubleshooting vision complaints with new eyewear and making appropriate adjustments or coordinating with the optometrist as needed.
- Assisting patients with insurance claims and understanding their vision benefits.
- Accurately documenting patient information, dispenses, and sales in electronic health records (EHR) or practice management software.
- Answering phones, scheduling appointments, and performing other administrative tasks as needed to support practice operations.
- Staying current with the latest optical technologies, products, trends, and dispensing techniques through continuing education and industry resources.
- Collaborating effectively with optometrists, optometric technicians, and front desk staff to ensure a seamless patient experience.
