Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Brokerage Specialist with hands-on experience using DAT, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and load boards. This role is responsible for coordinating freight, managing carrier relationships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective shipment execution. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment and has strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and book freight using DAT and other load boards
- Manage shipments from pickup through delivery using TMS platforms
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and customers
- Negotiate rates and secure capacity while meeting service expectations
- Track loads, troubleshoot issues, and provide proactive shipment updates
- Ensure accurate documentation, billing, and data entry in TMS
- Maintain compliance with company policies and transportation regulations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in freight brokerage or logistics
- Working knowledge of DAT, TMS systems, and load boards
- Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer systems
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of brokerage or dispatch experience
- Experience working with multiple carriers and customers
- Familiarity with rate trends and market conditions
