Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Reservoir Engineer to join our technical team in Farmington, NM. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of reservoir engineering experience, with a proven track record in optimizing field development, reserves evaluation, and economic performance across conventional and unconventional assets. This role will play a key part in driving value creation through rigorous technical analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and proactive identification of growth opportunities within the San Juan Basin. Asset base is ~1500 operated and ~1500 non-operated wells with an active unconventional drilling program.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead reservoir characterization, surveillance, and performance analysis across operated and non-operated assets in the San Juan Basin.
- Collaborate with drilling, completions, land, and production teams to design optimal well spacing, completion strategies, and lift systems.
- Conduct integrated reservoir studies using production, pressure, and geological data to improve recovery and guide asset development.
- Build and maintain decline curve, material balance, and simulation models to forecast production, evaluate infill and recompletion opportunities, and optimize development planning.
- Manage and prepare bi-annual reserves estimates in coordination with third-party auditors and internal management.
- Evaluate A&D opportunities, develop field-level economics, and support due diligence for potential acquisitions or divestitures.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and economic planning, contributing technical input to corporate strategy and investor reporting.
- Ensure compliance with SEC and SPE guidelines for reserve classification and documentation.
- Represent the company in technical and operational meetings and with regulatory agencies as required.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline (M.S. preferred).
- 10 years of reservoir engineering experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, ideally with exposure to both conventional and unconventional development in mature basins.
- Strong working knowledge of Aries, Petra, Excel, Spotfire, and reservoir simulation software.
- Demonstrated experience managing reserves reporting, economic modeling, field development planning, and A&D screening.
- Deep understanding of San Juan Basin geology and production trends is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary projects, deliver under tight deadlines, and communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
