Role Description This is an on-site Control Engineer contract role based in Chattanooga, TN. The Control Engineer will design, implement, and support automation and control systems for industrial and manufacturing clients, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, and system integration. Daily work includes reviewing project requirements, developing control logic, configuring field devices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safe and efficient system operation. The role involves troubleshooting control system issues on-site, commissioning new equipment, documenting designs and changes, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Control Engineer will also interact with clients to understand operational needs and recommend practical automation solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Process Control, including PID tuning, control loop design, and integration of field instrumentation.
- Applied Electrical Engineering skills related to industrial automation, such as reading schematics, specifying control hardware, and working with low-voltage systems.
- Hands-on Troubleshooting experience with control systems, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators in industrial environments.
- Experience with Motion Control, including drives, servos, and coordinated multi-axis systems.
- Exposure to Robotics programming, integration, and safe operation within automated production lines.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with common industrial PLC and HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or similar).
- Ability to work on-site in industrial settings, follow safety standards, and collaborate effectively with operations and maintenance teams.
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
