Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, order fulfillment, inventory management, and distribution operations.
- Develop and implement process improvements utilizing lean methodologies to enhance workflow efficiency and reduce waste.
- Manage transportation planning and coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and carriers to ensure timely delivery and pickup schedules.
- Oversee procurement processes, purchasing, and vendor relationships to maintain optimal inventory levels while controlling costs.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems such as AS400, and supply chain analytics tools to monitor performance metrics and streamline operations.
- Conduct demand planning, production scheduling, and dispatching to meet customer demands accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor budget adherence, perform profit & loss analysis, and implement cost-saving initiatives across warehouse functions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment by supervising safety protocols and conducting regular audits.
- Supervise warehouse staff by providing coaching, training on forklift operation, inventory control procedures, and other operational tasks.
- Oversee freight management including shipping & receiving processes, freight negotiations, NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) operations, and freight documentation.
- Manage warehouse distribution activities ensuring timely order fulfillment while maintaining high accuracy levels through inventory control practices.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for materials management and purchasing activities aligned with production planning needs.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles to optimize warehouse layout, workflow processes, and overall operational efficiency.
- Oversee fleet management including vehicle dispatching, maintenance scheduling, and transportation management systems integration.
Skills
- Extensive experience in warehouse supervision with proven leadership in operations management.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles including inventory management, logistics, procurement, and demand planning.
- Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP platforms such as AS400 or similar systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and supply chain analytics tools.
- Demonstrated ability in process improvement methodologies like lean manufacturing or continuous improvement strategies.
- Skilled in budgeting, profit & loss analysis, cost control measures, and financial planning related to warehouse operations.
- Expertise in freight handling including shipping & receiving procedures, freight negotiations, 3PL coordination, NVOCC operations, and dispatching.
- Hands-on experience with forklift operation certification; familiarity with materials handling equipment is essential.
- Strong supervisory skills with the ability to motivate teams while ensuring compliance with safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating across departments including procurement, production planning, transportation planning, and customer service teams.
- Ability to analyze supply chain data for insights that drive operational improvements; familiarity with supply chain analytics is a plus.
