Operator I, Equipment - Operations

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our stevedoring operations team. The ideal candidate will have experience operating various types of equipment, including forklifts, sweepers, skid steers, genie lifts, front-end loaders, track mobiles, excavators, and ship loaders. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment within our maritime facilities.

Responsibilities

• Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, sweepers, skid steers, genie lifts, front-end loaders, track mobiles, excavators, and ship loaders in compliance with company safety standards and regulations.
• Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport materials and cargo to designated areas, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and inspections on all equipment, identifying any mechanical issues and reporting them to the maintenance team.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting any safety hazards immediately.
• Site Preparation: Assist in site preparation and cleanup, including sweeping and debris removal to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
• Coordination: Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow and ensure efficient operations.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance activities.
  
  

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience operating heavy machinery, preferably in a maritime or industrial setting.
• Licenses: Valid driver's license and relevant equipment operation certifications (e.g., forklift operator, excavator operator)preferred.
• Skills:
• Proficient in operating a variety of heavy equipment in a maritime operation.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions and outdoor environments.
  
  

Scheduling

• Shiftwork scheduling - 8-12 hour shifts up to 7 days per week
• Nights and weekends as needed or on rotation schedule based on vessel schedule
