Overview We are seeking an experienced Master Mechanic to join our team at Logistec. The Master Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, diesel engines, and port machinery to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role is critical to reducing reliance on external service providers and ensuring maximum equipment uptime. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and port-related heavy equipment. Maintain, service, and repair forklifts, cranes, top loaders, trucks, trailers, and other port machinery. Develop and oversee preventive maintenance schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime. Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts used. Ensure all work meets safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards. Mentor junior mechanics and provide training as needed. Assist in procurement of tools, equipment, and replacement parts. Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide timely solutions to minimize disruption to port operations. Collaborate with operations, logistics, and management teams to ensure equipment availability for daily operations. Qualifications Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic. Master certification in diesel engine repair, hydraulics, or ASE certification strongly preferred. Proficiency in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed. Skills & Competencies Strong computer skills, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on safety. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work in outdoor port conditions. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Must be able to travel to Tampa and Port Evergradles On-call Monday-Friday (nights and weekends) As a port employer our team is subject to working in all weather condistions including extreme heat and harsh winters.
