What your day looks like as Equipment Operator II:
- Operate and maintain maritime equipment such as cranes, excavators, and loaders for the efficient handling of bulk cargo movement.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
- Coordinate with terminal staff to optimize cargo flow and minimize delays.
- Load and unload bulk materials from vessels, trucks, and trains, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo movements and equipment usage.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Assist in training new operators and other terminal staff on equipment operation and safety procedures.
To succeed as Equipment Operator you must have:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or training preferred.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card required
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a maritime or bulk terminal environment.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to maritime operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and on elevated platforms.
