INSTALL TECHNICIAN – LEVEL 1
Reports to: Project Manager

expectations. The following are the primary responsibilities, qualifications,
and skills for the position.
Scope of Responsibilities: Level
1
· Ability to
read basic plans of audio and video.
· Pulling
low voltage wire (new construction and retro fit), according to basic designs
and project manager or lead tech instructions.
· Tone and
Test cabling, be able to use a multi-meter
· Neat and
legible labeling of wires and components according to company standards
· Experience
with termination including RJ45, DB9, HD15, RCA, BNC, and other compression,
crimp or solder on terminations. Fiber termination, installation, and splicing
a plus.
· Understanding
of how to trim-out basic in-wall/in-ceiling speakers with or without preconstruction
brackets, phone ports, data ports - I.E. RJ-11, RJ-45 jacks/ wires, and other basic equipment. Ensuring all trim-out products are
straight/level and lined up correctly. Laser level is a must on in-wall and on wall installations.
· Ability to
rack mount most equipment, lacing rear bars in proper places, and rack rails
along with terminating basic power to a power strip, labeling all cables and
components.
· General
knowledge of the basic systems and connectivity of those systems.
· Install
and setup skills for basic installed systems
· Insuring
items on given punch-lists are complete in a timely fashion.
· General
knowledge of basic hand tools, proper and safe operation of those tools.
· Ability to
work efficiently and neatly in client’s homes and businesses. Neat and
acceptable appearance, courteous to peers and clients.
· A sense of
urgency for organization, and quality of work.
· Ability to
work and communicate with other team members and take direction from team lead
and project manager.
· Assist
other technicians with installations when needed.
· Updating
time tracking
· Cleaning
daily job trash, unneeded materials, etc. from the inside of the vans each day,
and a complete cleaning each week
· Familiarity
with safety standards, construction site safety rules, follow PPE guidelines as
required (hard hat and vest provided, steel-toe boots are the responsibility of
technician)
Qualifications:
The following skills and
abilities are essential for placement within Logic Integration.
· Clean driving record
· Able to pass a simple background
check and drug test
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Must be authorized to work full
time in the United States
· Provide normal hand tools
according to list of required tools
Additional Skills and Abilities:
Applicant must be able to safely
lift equipment weighing as much as 80 lbs. regularly. Able to work comfortably
on ladders, lifts and in high places as well as in tight conditions such as
crawl spaces, equipment closets, and cabinets. Must be able to perform all
tasks associated with the installation of Commercial Audio and Video Equipment
· ICIA CTS
or CTS-I a plus
· Crestron,
Polycom, or other manufacturer training a plus

Requirements
Skillsets and Core Competencies for Install Technicians
Install Technician
- Set of basic tools, access to a ladder
- Knowledge of Industry Safety Standards for
working in commercial spaces
- Prior A/V installation experience
- Cable Installation
- Cable terminations and testing
o RJ45 (must have an RJ45 Tester)

o 3.5mm connectors

interface with the A/V equipment with knowledge of how to use:
o Crestron Toolbox
o Biamp (Tesira, Audia etc.)
o Extron (Global Configurator etc.)
- Basic knowledge of Network – OSI Model
o Layer 1 – physical connections of equipment
o Layer 2 – datalink
o Layer 3 – network (switches)
- How to Configure the equipment
o Crestron (Matrix, Touch panels, etc)
o Dante
o AVB
- Rack wiring (proper techniques for installing,
dressing, labeling)
- Red-Line wiring/signal flow diagram
Certifications of Skills (any of the following would be
helpful)
- CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D
- AVIXA training and certification
- Manufacturer training i.e. Biamp, Crestron, AMX,
Cisco, Shure, Extron, Zoom, Polycom and certifications & training.
