Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to join our team. The QA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet company standards and comply with USDA, SQF, and customer requirements. This role will work closely with production, sanitation, and management to maintain our food safety and quality programs.
Duties
- · Assist the QA Director with customer portal maintenance.
· Support the QA Director in product development tasks.
· Update and maintain changes in product specifications, labels, and production processes.
· Verify the monitoring of Critical Control Points (CCPs), sanitation, storage temperatures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
· Ensure that products meet company specifications for appearance, weight, texture, and flavor.
· Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FDA/USDA standards.
· Provide coverage for QA Technicians when needed.
· Assist in audits and inspections conducted by regulatory agencies, third parties, or customers.
· Manage and maintain the document control program.
· Investigate and report non-conformances and customer complaints.
· Implement and follow up on corrective actions.
· Support the QA training program.
· Assist in training production staff on quality standards, food safety protocols, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
· Provide support to the production team to ensure consistent adherence to quality and safety procedures.
· Identify opportunities to improve production processes, product quality, and overall efficiency.
· Serve as the designated backup for the SQF Practitioner at our site.
Qualifications
- · High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in food science, Biology, or a related field is preferred.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish), ability to read, write, and speak both languages is required.
· Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in food manufacturing and/or quality assurance (meat or USDA-regulated facility preferred).
· Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SQF or other GFSI standards.
· Experience writing SOPs, procedures, and customer responses is a plus.
· Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
· Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.); ability to create forms, reports, and presentations.
· HACCP and SQF Practitioner certifications are a plus.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
