Purpose of the Role
The Contract ARNP provides psychiatric medication management and clinical collaboration for adolescents in a residential treatment setting. This role emphasizes an in-person and telehealth assessment, collaboration with therapists and medical staff, and continuity of care to support student safety, stabilization, and treatment progress.
Time & Presence Expectations
- In-Person Visits: Minimum 2 on-site visits per month (preferred: more as clinically indicated)
- Telehealth: Up to 2 telehealth days per month, as appropriate
- Availability: Ongoing availability for collaboration, order review, and urgent consultation as needed
Key Responsibilities – Medication Management
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-ups
- Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychotropic medications
- Review medication efficacy, side effects, and safety concerns
- Manage PRNs, standing orders, and medication titrations
- Collaborate with nursing on medication protocols and monitoring
- Work closely with therapists, nursing staff, and clinical leadership
- Participate in provider collaboration meetings approximately every 8 weeks to review student progress
- Contribute psychiatric updates and recommendations
- Support a holistic, team-based treatment approach
- Perform in-person psychiatric assessments
- Provide diagnostic clarification as needed
- Assess risk related to self-harm, aggression, and medication side effects
- Support treatment planning through clinical insight
- Complete timely and thorough documentation in the EHR
- Maintain compliance with state licensing requirements and facility policies
- Practice within trauma-informed care standards
- Communicate clearly with nursing regarding medication orders and changes
- Provide psychiatric input for parent communication when indicated
- Support continuity of care during admissions, transitions, and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Licensed ARNP / PMHNP in the State of Utah
- Active DEA registration
- Experience with adolescents and mental health settings
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Commitment to trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care
- Residential or higher-acuity adolescent care
- In-person psychiatric assessment experience
- Willingness to maintain consistent on-site presence
- A local, engaged provider who values face-to-face assessment
- A collaborative, relational care approach
- Interest in helping adolescents build medical self-advocacy skills
- Compensation: Contracted / negotiable
- Schedule: Flexible within required in-person parameters
- Duration: Ongoing contract
