What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern Legal Advisor position at Logan Houston for Louisiana House of Representatives District 80?
I'm seeking a motivated Intern Campaign Advisor to join my campaign team. This is a unique opportunity for someone interested politics, law, public policy, and government to gain meaningful experience during an active political campaign while being able to maintain school, work, and other commitments.
This is not a traditional internship with set hours. Instead, you'll serve as a trusted advisor who can answer questions, provide legal or policy insight, and assist when needed. There are no required weekly hours--your involvement is based on your availability and the needs of the campaign.
The position is fully remote, but interns are always welcome (never required) to attend campaign events, meetings, community appearances, and other activities if they're interested and able.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal and policy research when questions arise.
- Offer advice on campaign decisions from a legal or public policy perspective.
- Research Louisiana laws, legislative issues, and constitutional questions.
- Review policy proposals and provide feedback.
- Be available to answer questions and assist the campaign as needed.
- Attend campaign events and meetings if you choose to participate.
Qualifications
Applicants should be one of the following:
- Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or other law degree.
- Graduated with a law degree.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Legal Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, Government, or a closely related field.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Strong research and writing skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Interest in politics, government, and public service.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
