LOGAN Hope is a Christ-centered K-8 school that provides rigorous, holistic education for under-resourced students in the Logan neighborhood of Philadelphia. The idea for LOGAN Hope was originally born out of seeing the needs of a community of refugees who had escaped the genocide of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. This idea has grown into our current commitment to helping individuals and families who struggle daily with the effects of poverty: our mission is to foster hope and a future through Christian discipleship and transformative academics in North Philadelphia. 


LOGAN Hope is seeking a passionate upper school teacher to join its team for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position will teach science for upper school grades (5-8), as well as an additional elective for up to all school grades (K-8). Curriculum for science courses is provided. The elective course(s) taught by this individual have flexibility to reflect teacher qualifications and experience, but could include physical education, art, music, or Bible. Applicants must be committed followers of Jesus Christ and should demonstrate a commitment to the integration of faith and learning with the goal of equipping, inspiring, and challenging their students to love and serve Christ in the world.


Goals: 

  • Engage students with interactive, relevant instruction in the key content areas.
  • Model spiritual leadership and integrate Christian faith into the learning process.
  • Develop an environment of discipleship where students are nurtured and challenged on an individual basis. 
  • Advocate for students as a guide and a mentor through the educational process.
  • Work as a team member across grade levels with other teachers and staff at the school. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Create interactive, engaging lessons, labs, and learning activities for students in each of the key subject areas. 
  • Use a variety of engagement strategies and media to integrate with instruction.
  • Create and use a variety of assessments for students that accurately measure each student’s achievement of the objectives. 
  • Monitor student growth and achievement in relation to educational objectives.
  • Use formal and informal data to drive and inform instructional decisions. 
  • Plan trips and experiences for the class in connection to the class curriculum. 
  • Regularly respond to email and phone communication regarding school and student matters.
  • Advocate for students by regular positive communication with student families.
  • Supervise students in proper use of school materials and equipment. 
  • Maintain a clean and welcoming classroom environment. 
  • Engage students as the spiritual leader throughout the school day. 
  • Develop discipleship relationships with students and respond to discipline matters through proper implementation of Love and Logic.

Statement of Faith 

All staff much ascribe to the statement of faith (from the National Evangelical Association) 

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. 

2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 

3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. 

5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 

6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. 

7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
