Join our Hematology & Oncology Clinic as the primary front office professional supporting one of the most critical and compassionate service lines at Logan Health. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and dependable Patient Access Representative who can seamlessly balance front-desk excellence with department specialist–level responsibilities. The Senior Department Assistant is a key member of our Hematology/Oncology team and helps ensure that clinic operations run smoothly, efficiently, and with compassion. In this role, you support both patients and providers through advanced administrative coordination, thoughtful communication, and strong attention to detail. You will serve as a dependable resource for patients navigating complex care needs, and a trusted partner to providers who rely on you to maintain accurate information, timely scheduling, and seamless workflow. This position plays a vital part in shaping the patient experience from the moment they check in to the moment they leave the clinic. Key Responsibilities Lead daily reception workflow, including patient check-in, phones, and front-desk operations. Gather, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information. Verify benefits, obtain pre-authorizations, communicate estimated charges, and collect payments. Recognize patients who may need financial assistance and help connect them with financial counseling. Complete complex administrative tasks such as scanning PSA documentation, processing verbal authorizations, maintaining no-show lists, and updating deceased/hospice records. Prepare sympathy cards for families of deceased patients according to clinic protocols. Prioritize patient registrations based on acuity and coordinate closely with clinical staff to support timely care. Support providers and the care team with day-to-day operational needs to maintain smooth clinic flow. Maintain working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance requirements. Identify opportunities to improve customer service, workflow, and overall patient experience. Ensure all work meets standards for accuracy, productivity, confidentiality, and professionalism. Serve as a dependable point of contact for both internal and external customers. What We’re Looking For Relevant coursework beyond high school or experience in a complex administrative role. At least one (1) year in a customer-service–focused position. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality. Experience in patient access, scheduling, registration, billing, or insurance verification. Knowledge of healthcare insurance plans and medical terminology. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree. Experience in specialty care—especially oncology—is a plus. Shift: Day Shift - 8 Hours (United States of America) Schedule: Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
