Logan County Animal Care and Control, located in Russellville, KY, is looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a part-time Kennel Tech Assistant. What You’ll Do as a Kennel Tech Assistant
As a Kennel Tech Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and well-being of the animals in our care. Your responsibilities will include: - Cleaning and disinfecting kennels following our Standard Operating Procedures. - Feeding and providing fresh water to animals according to their schedules. - Maintaining cleanliness in public walkways and other shelter areas. - Walking, playing with, and providing enrichment activities for the dogs. - Assisting with bathing and grooming tasks.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who is passionate about animal care and ready to take on the physical and emotional challenges of working in a shelter environment. To be successful in this role, you’ll need: - A genuine love for dogs and their well-being. - The ability to safely work with dogs of all sizes, including those weighing over 100 pounds. - A flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the shelter. - Physical stamina for prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and cleaning tasks. - The ability to pass a drug test, including THC.
While prior experience in an animal shelter or providing animal care is highly preferred, we are willing to provide training to the right candidate.
What to Expect
Working at Logan County Animal Care and Control is rewarding but also physically demanding. You’ll be working in an environment where you’ll encounter: - Loud barking, animal hair and dander, cleaning chemicals, and varying weather conditions. - Physically intensive tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling. - Emotional challenges, including working with animals of unknown medical or behavioral backgrounds.
We prioritize safety and professionalism, so you’ll need to follow all shelter protocols, including those for animal handling, sanitation, and confidentiality.
Schedule and Compensation
- Pay: Starting from $15 per hour.
- Job Type: Part-time.
- Schedule:
- 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. four days per week.
- 10:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. one day per week.
