Logan City School District seeks 2 Elementary Dual Language Immersion Teachers [Portuguese] in Logan, Utah. Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: The Elementary Dual Language Immersion Teacher [Portuguese] instructs students in a dual language immersion setting at the elementary school level (Grades 1st -- 5th). The Elementary Dual Language Immersion Teacher will team with an English-speaking teacher who will teach two half-day sessions of English language arts, math, and content area reinforcement. Each of the two half-day sessions will be comprised of elementary English-speaking students who are learning the target language. **DUTIES**: (1) Teach elementary school students (Grades 1st- 5th) in the Target Language of Instruction [Portuguese] core content area(s) outlined in the Utah State Board of Education's (USBE) Core Curriculum, and adopted by the USBE; (2) Accommodates visitors in the classroom; (3) Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans; (4) Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans; (5) Attends district and state sponsored summer professional development; (6) Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration; (7) Collaborates with English partner teacher, instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes; (8) Communicates positively with others; (9) Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective instructional program; (10) Develops lesson plans for second language learners; (11) Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students; (12) Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study; (13) Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment; (14) Meets with parents from both classes for SEP Conferences; (15) Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment; (16) Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions; (17) Participates in ongoing training and instructional coaching; (18) Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements; (19) Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction; and (20) Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
